In high school, all you need to do is look out for yourself and do what you think is best for yourself. That is what I did, during sophomore year, and it has made me who I am today. In high school, I played basketball, until a variety of factors changed my passion and I had shied away from basketball. Those factors were bad coaching, injuries, and just losing my passion in general.
It was during sophomore year that I started losing passion. I was worried about what everyone would think, because sports was a cultural norm where I am from, everyone plays sports. I was more worried about how my dad would react over anything. He was my biggest supporter and fan. I stuck it out through the season for the most part, until my coach started showing favoritism towards players and giving them undeserved minutes. I approached him after a game to talk to him about how I was feeling, but he did not care. After that incident, I had made my decision, this was my last year playing basketball.
After telling my dad, he took it very well, better than I thought he would. He wanted me to get a job if I was not playing. Ever since I stopped playing basketball my life has been up, it has been a good life. This all stems from me doing what I felt was best for myself in the end, and it all turned out good.
