Space Colonization

In reading the Wikipedia article, Space Colonization, I believe that it would be a waste of time and money investing in Space Colonization. In theory, it makes sense to try to have another planet for survival of human civilization, but currently space is not the answer.

If we were to come under siege or threatened by the possibility of war, who gets to decide who goes to live in the space settlement?? In theWikipedia article, one issue pertains to economic inequality.

In addition, where would you go to jump on the “flight to space”? Newark International, JFK International Airport?? How long would it take to prepare to put all the wheels in motion?? 5 years, 10 years, 50 years??? Too many questions. To expand this much thought or money on space exploration on a “concept” is ridiculous.

It would seem to be a huge waste of time, money, and utilizing people who are brilliant working on something that is fundamentally inconceivable at this point in time. Even according to the Wikipedia article, creating a space colony would be a massively expensive project.

How long would it take to get supplies and transport the goods that would be required to have a space settlement? The money required would be astronomical and would take years to get established and organized. Our society would need to become even more technologically advanced than we are right now.

A lot of money, a lot of materials, an expanded amount of time and effort. To invest would be a waste when there are other global issues that need attention at this time. I believe that it would be better to invest the funds to help our planet to become more ecologically supportive to our environment. According to Wikipedia, expansion has resulted in forms of environmental destruction affecting ecosystems and wildlife. We need to clean our air, our oceans and our environment, not destroy it. We are looking for a way out or to escape our problems.

We have so many people in need in this country in need, we should learn to allocate funds more wisely and appropriately. I highly doubt I will see the day when there are thousands of humans leaving Earth to live on other planets. Space Colonization, in my opinion, is a waste of time.
